Understanding Land Transfer Tax
What is Land Transfer Tax?
Land Transfer Tax (LTT) is a provincial tax charged when you purchase a property. Some municipalities, like Toronto, also charge an additional municipal land transfer tax.
First-Time Home Buyer Rebates
First-time home buyers may be eligible for rebates or exemptions. In Ontario, you can receive up to $4,000 back on provincial LTT and up to $4,475 on Toronto's municipal LTT. In BC, first-time buyers are fully exempt from LTT on properties up to $500,000.
