Editorial Policy
How our mortgage education content is written, sourced, reviewed and kept current.
Purpose of our content
Mortgage content on this site is for general educational purposes. Actual mortgage qualification, rates, lender requirements and approvals depend on each borrower's circumstances and on lender policies, which change. Nothing on this site is an offer, a commitment to lend, or financial, legal or tax advice.
Authorship
Educational articles are written or reviewed by Sami Juneja, Mortgage Broker, Get A Better Mortgage Inc. (FSRA #10874). Every article shows the author and a last-updated date.
Sourcing standards
- Claims about government programs, regulation, mortgage rules, taxes, CMHC or provincial rules link to the authoritative source (for example FCAC, OSFI, CMHC, CRA or the provincial regulator).
- Lender requirements are described as typical and lender-specific, not universal.
- We do not publish invented statistics, fake reviews or testimonials, guaranteed approvals or guaranteed rates.
- Examples are labelled as hypothetical.
- Statistics are published only from a documented dataset with sample size and method stated.
Content update policy
Pages that contain time-sensitive information show a visible "Last updated" date. We update a page when a rule, program, product or rate it describes changes, and correct errors as soon as they are confirmed.
Review process for time-sensitive content
- Rates: maintained in one central rate record and reviewed whenever lender pricing changes. Rates are always shown as subject to change and lender approval.
- Bank of Canada decisions: affected pages reviewed within a week of each announcement.
- Regulatory and program changes (stress test, CMHC, provincial rules): affected pages reviewed when the change is announced.
- Quarterly review: every guide and service page is checked for accuracy, broken sources and outdated figures, and its date updated.
- Pages losing search visibility are prioritised for refresh.
